Hi, can anyone verify what's mentioned in this online article?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greatest_Hits_(Sly_&_the_Family_Stone_album)

I'm referring to the statement that test quad mixes were done initially that differed to the released versions. Has anyone heard these?

great versions! Try to buy one on ebay. They normally go for 10 to 15 bucks.

it features the original unedited version of dance to the music, thank you with a 2nd guitar to name just a few things

Agreed, the quad mixes are great with the differences as well as some tracks being longer ("You Can Make It If You Try", I seem to recall). So nobody's heard these test mixes?

Is the Thank You with a second guitar the same as the one on the re-released Greatest Hits? It's got a much "drier" mix with much less reverb and less treble, features at least more promient guitar, slightly crazier horns and lasts longer. I've just been listening to it and there's a very strange sound that sounds like an alarm or something at 2.18 - 2.25 - check it out!

The quad mixes are made in 1971 and where mixed for the on the 4 way speakersystem quadrophonic.

The 2007 mixes are mixed from the same tapes of course, but done by Bob Irwin in the recent years.

So two differnt mixes from the same old Sly tapes. Both these mixes have no Sly involvement.
