Dick Cavett appearances released on DVD
14 August 2005

A three-disc DVD set of the late 60s/early 70s talkshow The Dick Cavett Show has been released, which includes footage of Sly And The Family Stone in their heyday.
Sly And The Family Stone made two appearances on the program. The first was in 1970, when they played "Thank You" and Sly sat down for an awkward-but-civilised chat. The second was in 1971, when the band played "I Want To Take You Higher" and then Sly participated in one of the most infamous television interviews ever, in which he was clearly inebriated. It is unclear which of these appearances feature on the DVD.
Dick himself says about that interview: "There were times when I thought, ‘Gee I don’t know what to do — I have no idea what he’s talking about.’ That show was notoriously bizarre."
